GOOEY BUTTER CAKE BUTTERCREAM

This is my famous gooey butter cake buttercream that I use for to fill my gooey butter macarons. These macarons are my best seller because - honestly who doesn't love gooey butter cake? And if you're not from St. Louis and haven't tried it then this is a good recipe to give you an idea of the St. Louis' famous dessert.

INGREDIENTS

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1 brick of cream cheese

1/2 cup of heat treated yellow cake mix

4-5 cups of powdered sugar

INSTRUCTIONS

1. add the yellow cake mix to a pan with foil and place it in a 350 degree oven for 5 minutes - let cool completely

2. cream together softened butter and cream cheese until light and fluffy

3. add the cooled yellow cake mix and mix until combined

4. add the powdered sugar until desired stiffness

-more powdered sugar is better for frosting cakes

-less powdered sugar is fine for filling macarons - dust with powdered sugar to give the gooey butter effect
